Somatic Journaling *Clinician Edition

$50.00 every month for 6 months

Hannah will be teaching 5 methods of interoception (the skill of listening to your body), the concept of pendulation, and the importance of resourcing during healing work. The group will learn how to use these skills to deepen the impact of journaling for self care. This group is exclusively for clinicians but no somatic training is required.

We will meet once a month for six months. We will always meet on Friday afternoons to finish the week on a high note, and signal to our bodies that it is time to receive and rest for the weekend. Drinks and snacks are provided at each meeting. Wearing comfy clothes and bringing comfort objects such as blankets or stuffed animals is highly encouraged.

The dates are June 21st, July 19th, August 16th, September 20th, October 18th, and November 8th from 3-5 pm at Moments Counseling: 8010 State Line Road, Suite 154, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.

This group is billed monthly at $50/month. Refunds are not available, but if you miss a meeting Hannah will send you all the information from the session and make sure you don’t miss any content.

What’s included:

6 monthly in person meetings: Making this group exclusive to clinicians is intended so each participant can “put down” their therapy hat and focus on receiving care. This is a place to be honest about how you feel without worrying a non-therapist will judge you or make assumptions about you.

Snack and drinks: This is time for you to receive high quality and trauma informed care. It is an honor to get to support you and I want to do that emotionally and physically- snacks allow me to do that!

Printed visuals: are provided to each participant to enhance the information shared verbally by Hannah.

Ruff House Print Shop journals: each participant will receive a journal at the first session. Please bring your favorite writing utensil to use with your new journal! These journals are designed and printed by a woman owned business in Lawrence, Kansas.

What you will learn:

Interoception skills: Interoception is the ability to receive information from your body. We will explore 5 different ways the body communicates and practice each one.

  1. Purpose: Our personal reason “why”.

  2. Emotion: Comfortable and uncomfortable emotions are neutral sources of information about how our body perceives our relationships and lives.

  3. Abstraction: The experience of the 5 senses, real or in our mind’s eye such as memories.

  4. Reaction: How we react to people and situations in our lives.

  5. Location: Where we get visceral sensations inside our bodies.

Pendulation: This is a movement that happens naturally in your nervous system. You will learn what it is, why it’s important, how to track it in yourself, and how to track it in others.

Resourcing: This is essential in any healing work. It is the key to feeling in control of your emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them. This skill will become one you use in your personal healing, but also in all relationships in your life.

How to feel your feelings: Using all of the above information to be able to feel your feelings in a safe, controlled way. This will allow emotions to move through your body so you don’t feel “stuck” in them.
